Iona Institute leader votes for Muslim

On the Feast of The Sacred Heart, the leader of Iona Institute declared online about his decision to give a high preference vote to a Muslim cleric. The declaration sparked disgust among Catholics. It raises the question, Should Catholics support the Iona Institute?

Dr Umar Al-Qadri is the Chairperson of the Irish Muslim Peace & Integration Council and Head Imam at the Islamic Centre of Ireland. He is also the owner of a Halal food certification body and a father to three children. Al-Qadri moved to Ireland in 2004 and has gone on to actively attack Irish Culture and to attack the Truth which St Patrick taught us. The Muslim cleric has founded a mosque in Clonee and played a leading role in spreading Islam in Ireland. Notably he also campaigned for a Yes vote in Ireland's abortion referendum, calling on Muslims in Ireland to vote yes to the "legalisation" of the murder of unborn children.

While the Iona Institute website does not appear to make any explicit claim to be Catholic, many Catholics take it for granted that it is Catholic. The "about us" section on the Iona Institute states -

"The Iona Institute promotes the place of marriage and religion in society. Our starting point in debates about the family is that children deserve the love of their own mother and father whenever possible. We believe in the public funding of both denominational schools and other types of schools that reflect the wishes of parents in an increasingly diverse society. We also promote freedom of conscience and religion, and the right to life.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Iona Institute is David Quinn."

Nowhere does it say they promote the Catholic Church, rather they simply state "religion". Given David Quinn's support for Muslim leaders, it now appears that the leader of Iona Institute is in favour of promoting all religions, even that of Islam which is one of the most barbaric and violent of all.

It is not the first time leaders of Iona Institute have angered their support base. During the covid fiasco they lost a lot of support when they openly promoted abortion tainted vaccines. They used deeply flawed reasoning to do so and then blocked the comment sections on their video so that people could not correct them or warn those who were being deceived. The vaccines which they promoted have now resulted in countless injuries and deaths around Ireland and the world. Andrew Bridgen, a British politician recently stated -

“A leading cardiologist had said that the vaccine rollout is the biggest crime against humanity since the Holocaust. I’m afraid I think it’s going to be bigger than the Holocaust because I think we’re going to be somewhere between 10 and 20 million people who have been killed by these experimental vaccines worldwide — and it’s still going up.”

Following the vaccine advice was wrong, following people in compromising with false religions and voting in favour of political Islam is also wrong. One could possibly lead to death of the body, the other will most certainly lead to death of the soul.

“Whatever the current difficulties may be, Christ’s disciples must assert the demands of faith in Christ without reticence and without compromise, in theory and in practice, because they are the demands and precepts of God.” Cardinal Robert Sarah
